Getting a rental date

  1. Place a hold on a date by requesting a hold from Jerry Mouawad by emailing Jerry at jerry@imagotheatre.com with a date and which floor of Imago Theatre you wish to place a hold.
  2. Once you have placed a hold, and it is not a first hold you can challenge the other renters with a challenge, with the exception of Imago Theatre (see #4.) For example, if you are with Portland Cabaret Dance Company and have a hold on Feb 3, 2009, you can then email Jerry and write “I would like to contract Feb 3rd can you challenge the date for me?” Jerry would then contact the 1st holder (let’s say its Oregon Actors Theatre), he would then ask the Oregon Actors Theatre if they are contracting the date for Feb 3rd, 2009. If they say yes, then Jerry will require that Oregon Actors Theatre to place a deposit on the date and sign a contract within 72 hours. If however, Oregon Actors Theatre declines the date, then Portland Cabaret Dance Company would then be required to place a deposit and contract the date. The same holds true if you have a 1st hold, if you are challenged then you must place a deposit and sign a contract.
  3. Imago has first hold on all dates at the Imago Theatre for both ballroom and 1st floor. So if you call for a date, and no one is ahead of you on holds, it is most likely you will receive a hold behind Imago Theatre. Once Imago Theatre defines its programming calendar, it will release its first holds.
  4. Terms of contract. Terms of Imago contract will vary on your non-profit status and the time of the contract is issued. To receive a fee quote contact Jerry.
  5. If you have a 1st hold on a theatre and you intend to go ahead with your event all contractual items and deposits must be complete two weeks prior to your first day of rental.
  6. Placing a hold is a reservation and in no way commits you to contracting the date.
  7. Until a contract is complete, Imago reserves the right to change "the hold order" for the benefit of Imago Theatre's budget. For example, if you have a first hold on a single date in March, but another renter requests a hold for the entire month of March, Imago reserves the right to move your 1st hold to a 2nd hold. In other words, Imago Theatre reserves the right to provide service to the highest revenue option.
